A Trauma-Sensitive Perspective

I’m Esther van der Sande. I support individuals, professionals, and organizations through trauma-sensitive training, education, and awareness. My work focuses on deepening understanding, strengthening resilience, and creating environments where people feel safe to learn, reflect, and grow.

“A trauma-sensitive society is one built on compassion, understanding, and connection.”

As the author of the Dutch book “Een Trauma-Sensitieve Samenleving”, I invite you to explore a vision for a more inclusive and harmonious world. In my book, I share insights and tools to foster healing and deeper relationships in our society.

In-Company Training

Organizations increasingly recognize the importance of working in trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive ways. When professionals understand how trauma can affect the body, behavior and relationships, they are better able to create environments that support safety, resilience and connection.

Our in-company trainings and workshops are designed for teams and organizations who wish to deepen their understanding of trauma and integrate trauma-sensitive and somatic approaches into their work.

Programs can be tailored to the needs of your organization and may include themes such as:

  • trauma-informed practice
  • nervous system awareness
  • trauma-sensitive communication
  • supporting grief and loss
  • wellbeing and vicarious trauma
  • embodied and somatic approaches in professional practice

Training can be offered in person or online and adapted to different sectors such as healthcare, education, social services, coaching and organizational leadership. Together we explore how trauma-informed principles can support both the wellbeing of professionals and the people they work with.

If you would like to explore possibilities for your team or organization, you are welcome to connect.

“Trauma-sensitive work begins with understanding, not fixing.”

Trauma-Informed Care Training and Movement

My organisation, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, was established in Australia and is now headquartered in the Netherlands, providing training that acknowledges the profound impact trauma has on many people’s lives.

Many treatment approaches neglect the impact trauma has on the body.

Our approach has been empirically validated to increase the potential for healing and recovery.

It’s more than just another embodiment practice – it’s a complementary treatment that restores a sense of safety and empowerment.
