Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an empirically validated, adjunctive clinical treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD. Developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, TSY has foundations in Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, and Neuroscience as well as Hatha Yoga practice with an emphasis on body-based yoga forms and breathing practices.

What is Trauma Sensitive Yoga?

TSY has its purpose to nurture two fundamental potentialities that become weakened after chronic abuse and/or neglect. These potentialities are interoception and making choices.

Because Complex Trauma/ PTSD is something that is enacted within relationships – when people hurt other people – healing occurs when we practice interoception & choice making within a relationship. This relationship is between the client(s) and the Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator. Much care is given to establishing safety in this relationship.

It is in this sense that Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) is a relational practice rather than a self-practice.

To help assurance client’s needs for safety and social connection we offer both individual and small-group  options (no more than 10 people).

If you have questions about our services or would like to try  a Trauma-Sensitive-Yoga class please feel free to drop Esther  an email.
